Environmentally Responsible House
Widely regarded as the first concerted effort at green building in Eugene, every component of this project was analyzed, from the residual toxicity of fly ash in the concrete to the working conditions in gypsum mines.
Some of the first sustainable lumber in Oregon was custom milled and custom certified for the framing, flooring, decking and cabinets.
Many green building elements now common were prototyped here:
- Radiant Floors
- Solar Hot Water
- Reused Lumber
- Low VOC Finishes
- Heat Recovery Ventilation
- Formaldehyde-Free Cabinets
- Staggered 2×4 Studs on 2×8 Plates
